Summertime means so much, doesn’t it? It’s warm, so we open the windows and doors to let in those morning breezes. Plants are blooming, birds are chirping, and everything in our desert is so green! But summertime also means kids running in and out of the house, shedding pets, and bbqs. So how are you supposed to keep your floors clean with all that going on? We’ve got some summertime clean floor tips for you!
Find a Routine
When the days and weeks of summer get messy, having a plan in place for cleaning is key. For example, maybe you always do a thorough and deep vaccuming on Wednesdays. Perhaps Saturdays are “clean the house top to bottom” days. The rest of the week you have a simple routine of quick sweeps and spot cleaning. Whatever the routine is, find what works best for you and stick with it.
Assign Tasks
Unless you live alone, there are others around who can help with those summertime cleaning duties. There are lots of ways to do this: each person has a room to keep clean, or perhaps the kids are in charge of keeping the floor around the pets’ bowls clean, etc. Maybe someone is in charge of shaking out the mats in front of the doors three times a week. Don’t put the entire burden of keeping the floors clean on yourself!
Make it Easy
There are so many products, from robot vaccuums to less-expensive micro-fiber sweepers, that can help make your cleaning routine easy. One of our best summertime clean floor tips is to find a way to make it easy. For example, clean the floors in one room every day. That’s easy!
Spot Clean
As soon as you notice a stain on the carpet, get on it. Spot cleaning can help to remove stains before they set and keep odors out of your carpets. Having a handy small carpet cleaner for stain removal is useful too. We’ve got other tips on carpet cleaning and stain removal here.
