Choosing flooring for various rooms in your home can be a daunting task. There are so many possibilities out there! For some rooms it’s all about the aesthetic – how will this flooring look in the space? For other rooms your deciding factor might be durability. For kids rooms choosing a flooring option will most likely come down to durability and stain-resistance.
Carpet for kids rooms
When I was a kid, one of my favorite indoor activities was to play scientist. I would do this by using a desk in my closet to set up various containers of water. Then I would pry the ends off of my markers and pull out the ink pads in them and color the water with these. Of course, the ink pads and containers of water often fell onto the floor. The flooring in my bedroom was a very light cream colored carpet. You can imagine what that looks like today!
Fortunately, today’s carpets are better constructed and offer many more options so that there’s something suitable even for kids’ rooms! A loop-style (often known as Berber) carpet will be durable for higher-traffic areas like a playroom or kids’ room. If you choose a medium shade of a neutral color, or something with a bit of a pattern to it, even if stains DO happen and are hard to remove, they won’t be as noticeable. Other kids room flooring options
If you’re worried that wall-to-wall carpet is just not going to work for your kids’ room, there are plenty of other options to consider. Hardwood or luxury vinyl plank will both be attractive and durable options. The Luxury Vinyl plank is an especially great option because it’s waterproof!
So even if your kids decide to be a scientist and dumps colored water all over the floor, this flooring can handle it! If you want a bit of coziness you can always add an area rug to the room as well.
